Staff Procedure

  • Staff are to confirm A-Permit request is from the designated “Authorized Contractor” by the Hollywood Historic Trust (the Trust is authorized by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce (HCC) to manage the Walk of Fame)
  • Staff to verify the following documents are attached by the applicant:
    • Board of Public Works approved report accepting the starred recipient’s name
    • HCC Annual minutes with the starred recipient’s name
    • Document indicating Star placement and “Star Name” on approved City B-permit plans
  • Staff to charge the following A-Permit fees: 
    • 1 hour of special engineering
    • A-Permit application fee
    • 3 hours of special inspection

Applicant Procedures

  • HCC letter showing star name, location, date (provided by HCC)
    • Note: Revisions or amendments to be sent directly to BOE by submitting a Customer Service Request (CSR). Instructions on submitting a CSR are linked here. Direct the CSR by selecting the following options:
      • Select Agency: BOE
      • My Request Relates to (Service): A-Permit
      • Send My Request to (Office/Location): Central
  • HCC Annual minutes with the star recipient’s name (highlighted or circled)
    • Staff to confirm an annual Board of Public Works (BPW) annual report tied to the requested recipient showing that BPW received acceptance of the HCC meeting minute list. Search through the Board of Public Works File Management system. (New list available August of every year) 
  • The Hollywood Walk of Fame is administered by the HCC and maintained by the self-financing Hollywood Historic Trust. A history of the Hollywood Walk of Fame can be found at http://www.walkoffame.com/pages/history.
  • Annually in June, the HCC nominates individuals to receive Hollywood Walk of Fame Stars for the next year and memorializes the nominations in their meeting minutes. As soon as the minutes are generated, HCC will send the meeting minutes for acceptance to the BOE where a Board Report will be generated to allow for the BPW Commissioners to accept the new nominations. No names will be installed in the public right-of-way without first obtaining the permit to do so along with any authorizations required.
